Christ
Church stands at the very heart of Kilndown. Built
in 1841, it is one of the finest early Victorian churches in the country. It
offers both fascinating architecture and a strong sense of God's presence.
Sunday Worship is Holy Communion at 9.15am with music led by the choir. The
church is open daily. Please come to join us for Worship or just come in to
pray or to enjoy the stillness and peace of this holy place.
The Friends
of St. Maryâs, a charitable trust, focuses on the preservation
of the Grade 1 listed C14th church, St. Maryâs, rather than its ministry. The
trust preserves historically significant art and architecture, recently funding
essential repairs and planning a memorial window in honor
of Elizabeth II, anticipated for autumn installation. Contact andrea@tapoff.co.uk
Goudhurst
Ex-Servicemenâs Club has
existed since 1919 and is run by volunteers for the village. Please come in and have a look. Annual membership is £25 for adults and £15
for over-65s. Day guests are welcome for
£2 a visit. Opening hours: Wednesday 4-9pm, Thursday 4-10pm, Friday
4-10pm, Saturday 12-10pm, Sunday 12-6pm, closed Monday and Tuesday.
The Goudhurst & Kilndown Local History Society provides monthly illustrated talks
for its members from autumn to spring. The meetings are held in the evenings in
the Goudhurst Club. Professional speakers and the Society's own members cover subjects ranging from the purely local
to broader historical subjects, mainly from Kent. The Society has an
archive from Goudhurst & Kilndown of books, slides, photographs,
postcards, maps, and other material, together with a small number of
interesting artefacts. www.goudhurstlocalhistorysociety.org
Kilndown
Community Choir
meets at Christ Church Kilndown on Monday evenings from 7.30-9pm. We sing
a huge range of material, from pop songs, songs from musicals and film, folk
and spirituals to serious and sacred music. The choir is always keen to
improve its singing, but our main focus is enjoyment. For more
information, please email Tina (the choir secretary) at tinagallagher22@aol.com or phone her on 01892 890426 or
07909 946195.
St Maryâs Goudhurst and Christ Church Kilndown. All are
welcome to our local Church of England parish churches and our beautiful
buildings are open every day for you to visit. Our Sunday worship is at 8am and
10.45am at St Mary's and 9.15am at Christ Church. www.gkchurch.org.uk

St. Maryâs Church in Goudhurst, a historic landmark since 1119, offers architectural beauty and serenity.
Notable for the Bedgebury Chapel, the
church features a bookstall. Its tower, offering
expansive views of the Weald of
Kent, is accessible weekends from Easter to mid-July.
Membership of the Goudhurst Branch of The Royal
British Legion is open to everyone; no Armed Services experience is needed.
Members are welcome to join our modest programme of local Branch quarterly
meetings, supporting the Goudhurst Poppy Appeal and Goudhurst Remembrance
Day. For more information, contact Ed Bates, Branch Secretary, ed_bates@hotmail.co.uk
The u3a,
a learning cooperative for those who have retired from full-time work, offers creative and
leisure activities in Goudhurst. With 150 members, 20 interest groups, and monthly meetings featuring
speakers and refreshments, it's a vibrant
community for learning and socialising. General
meetings are held at 2:30pm on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, usually in Goudhurst Village Hall. Visitors and new
members very welcome. Contacts: Secretary: secgandd@gmail.com Membership secretary: lynnegane@aol.com
